Indian Rocks Beach Celebrates Octoberfest 2015

Historic Yacht Basin, IRB, Fl. Original oil painted on canvas one panel by each artist:  Mary Rose, Violetta & Helen Tilston
Hope everyone had a wonderful summer and that you are fully rested to take on the world of Autumn and Winter.

The Plein Aire Cottage Artists have had one of their busiest and most successful Summer.  Pictured above is Violetta painting at Ballycotton, Co Cork,  Ireland, in June.    Ireland has welcomed our paintings.   One comment from an onlooker was "It looks like ye paint the sunlight in the painting"

Four local newspapers covered our shows.  Cry Radio Station in Youghal invited Helen Tilston to Sixty Minutes for a one hour interview and a promise of a return visit prior to Christmas.

This was my first radio interview, I was slightly nervous but am told it went well

The Historic Yacht Basin at Indian Rocks Beach Florida has a magical spirit.  Visitors always stop to watch the sunrise, or the reverse sunset,  the dolphin or manatee on occasion, the egrets, blue heron and songbirds stop which travelling north and south.  The historical white house located here with the sunlight dancing on her windows, enhanced by  the scent of orange blossom, jasmine, roses and bougailvillia all mingle with the salt water.   Violetta, Mary Rose and I have painted here on many  occasions.  Recently, we  painted a triptych (one panel by each artist).  This painting we are donating to Octoberfest.  The painting will be auctioned off on October 10, 2014 at Octoberfest, Indian Rocks Beach.   We understand there will be on line bidding available.   The entire proceeds benefit IRB Action 2000 which gives the entire amount back the community by beautifying the neighbourhood.

Above is an image of  the Historic Yacht basin. Bidding Link will follow.

Many thanks for your comments and wishing you a wondrous week.

  1. What a tremendous summer you three talented ladies had Helen!! I suspect your triptych pairing for the Oktoberfest will bring in a hefty reward. What a great thing you 3 are doing by donating it to raise funds for a worthy cause. Keep us posted & I hope your fall/winter are just as inspiring & fun!

  2. Hi Helen, I so wish I painted under you, perhaps you could improve my art in painting to canvas. A couple of posting back you will see my French lady very flat in contour yet for her use she will be printed to litho paper for the art of Mix Media altered art in collage and then she really won't be so wrong after all. I don't mind that rustic...
Amateur feel of college art feel for this feel, but to paint as you would me not short of experiencing the best.

I would love to live in that second picture, the setting feels like so me.
And if ever in Ireland you my dear I would let know my closest whereabouts and it would be a dream holiday, one would have to drag me home from....I already have the Irish last name Callaway from of course my Grandfather on my fathers side so I have a good start as to fitting in :)

Keep painting your beauty my dear, it's a beautiful gift that has been bestowed upon you.

    See you soon,
Thank you Love for sharing, and thank you for your beautiful words over at my place.

    Xx
    Dore
